The Life Link’s Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program (IOP) is an intensive treatment program that provides 9 hours of programming per week, for a total of 12 weeks. Clients meet three days a week.
What We Offer We offer a therapeutic and skill-building program that includes group therapies and group-specific programs for men and women, 18 and older, who have a substance abuse or co-occurring problem. The IOP is based on highly effective, empirically based cognitive-behavioral approaches for treating substance abuse. These include Motivational Interviewing (MI), the Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA), and the Matrix Model. The strengths of these approaches lie in the incorporation of social, recreational, familial, and vocational strategies to aid clients in their recovery and process of change. Our program goal is to reach individuals who need consistency and frequency in substance abuse or co-occurring treatment.
Program Planning and Delivery Specific components of the IOP program include behavioral, social and living skills training, communication skills, motivational enhancement, wellness education, recovery and relapse prevention, etc. Men and women also have an opportunity to have separate groups to discuss gender-specific issues such as relationships, trauma, family, etc. Drug and alcohol screening is done on a weekly random basis. Each group has approximately 10 members. Each client is given a binder with sections for each of the modules covered, allowing them to keep a record of the information that they are learning. Each client has homework to complete after each day. Clients move progressively through three phases. Graduation from one phase to the next occurs after successful completion of each phase as well as meeting treatment plan goals. Aftercare is also offered after completion of the IOP, including outpatient individual and group counseling sessions in order to support continued recovery. If individual or family counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation, peer support, medical/psychiatric, employment, case management, etc. services are needed, clients are referred to those departments.
Admissions and Referrals To be eligible, persons must meet the following criteria:
Client must be 18 years of age or older
Client must agree to follow all program rules
Client must have a problem with substance abuse, addiction, or dependence.
Potential clients must complete an intake packet, screening, and assessment before admission. The program is designed for persons who have not responded to other forms of treatment, have external requirements (i.e. court-mandated treatment), and/or prefer a less intensive form of treatment than inpatient services. The staff include, but are not limited to, a licensed psychologist, psychosocial rehabilitation specialist, certified peer support specialists, licensed substance abuse and behavioral health professionals, etc.
We accept various forms of payment, including, but not limited to, Medicaid, Santa Fe County’s Community Healthcare Fund, Department of Health, etc.
