The Better Way – Santa Fe program is a 2-year, $140,000 partnership between The Life Link and City of Santa Fe, patterned after the There’s a Better Way program in Albuquerque. Three days per week, the program picks up 6 workers by van and transports them to city worksites for cleaning and landscaping work. Workers put in 5 solid hours, with breaks for free breakfast and lunch, and earn $57 cash at the end of the day-as well as the self-respect and autonomy gained from meaningful employment. Workers also find a mentor and employment counselor in Program Manager Quill Head, who can refer them to a wide variety of other Life Link services.
